Top Richmond Recruit Grant Signs with Ohio State
After years of speculation, star Hermitage linebacker Curtis Grant has made his decision on which of the more than 25 offers from schools around the country he will accept. His decision is to become an Ohio State Buckeye; joining one of the most storied and successful programs in the country. Grant’s dynamic ability at the linebacker position made him one of the premier recruits in the nation, with ESPN ranking him as the 46th best recruit in this year’s class among all positions. Among inside linebackers, he’s rated the third best in the nation. The Times Dispatch reports that the tight-knit bond amongst the Ohio State team appealed to him, and reminded him of his Hermitage team. "(The coaching staff) just wanted to get to know me more as a person, then we could talk about football as the time came around," Grant said. The other schools Grant was deciding between included Virginia, North Carolina, and the University of Florida. The Times also notes that Grant is the first local player to attend Ohio State since Trever Robinson, a 2003 Huguenot graduate who walked on with the Buckeyes.
