Manchester High senior Lyberty Anderson won the state-wide Group AAA Tournament in most impressive fashion on Tuesday, eagling the final hole to secure her victory.
Going into the final of the 18-hole tournament at Red Wing Lake Golf Club, Lyberty Anderson was one shot behind leader Jason Park. Park would achieve par on the par-5 hole. Anderson drained a 12-footer put for a 2-shot eagle, winning the tournament by one shot. She is the first female golfer to in the Group AAA Tournament since 2002 (a decade!).
Mills Godwin coach Tom Hoy said to The Richmond Times-Dispatch, “We’ve been saying golf in the Richmond area is as strong as anywhere in the state and I think that’s proven here,” Hoy said. We couldn’t agree more! The talent in this area across all sports is just amazing, and we continue to see it in the news and from talk with customers in the store every week.
We spend a lot of time talking about football, baseball, swimming, baseball, lacrosse, and so forth – but we’re fans of EVERY sport. Golf is no exception – and we’re always proud of the amazing athletes that come from the Greater Richmond area.
